Most four-month-old babies are cute… they smile a little, coo here and there, blow a few raspberries.  But THIS four-month-old baby… he was SPECIAL.  He was so full of personality.  I threatened to take him home with me in my camera bag (of course I wouldn’t do that – only because most clients would object, I suppose).  It seemed like EVERY click of the shutter saw a brand new, adorable expression.  From total shock (aka, “Wow – these things are ATTACHED?” while checking out his own feet) to the most heartfelt grin I’ve ever seen, this boy was a little bucket of sunshine and entertainment.

As if his adorable personality, sweet face and perfectly milky pink baby skin weren’t enough (the kind I long for every time I look into the mirror and think about what aging cessation skin care regimen might be most effective… but I digress), his home was to die for.  I wish it hadn’t been raining that day, as I’ll bet we would have had some SWEET light in all the rooms of this impeccable house.  But, alas, the strobes made it out of the bag and a little ambient/flash light balance was to be had to create some lovely photographs that, I hope, show off both this beautiful baby boy and his incredible home. 

Thanks so much to his mommy for choosing me to photograph you guys!  It was a real pleasure meeting you both, and I look forward to seeing you again in a couple of weeks.

If I were giving an award for Most Heartfelt Smile, this one would DEFINITELY be a contender!

Thanks to his grandma and aunt for bringing this sweet boy into my studio.  Handsome AND well behaved… a winning combination! 

Could this boy be any more adorable (even though his daddy is a Nikon guy)?  I love expressive babies, and this one was among the best.  Look at that little mouth – caught in a tiny O or a huge smile… either way, so adorable. 

I’m working on new galleries for my main web site, and as I flipped through the images from this family’s session, I kept thinking about a new gallery I’m calling “That Little Heart” that’s all about capturing the little heart inside a person that’s there from the very beginning.  That’s what I think this session was all about.  He may be only four and a half months old, but he’s already got his own little heart, and it shows all over his sweet face.

This is the second time I’ve had the pleasure of photographing these three beautiful boys.  First time was in the studio.  This time at home.  Let’s just say that they were much more *comfortable* at home.    More challenging?  Yes.  Just as gratifying?  Of course! 

With perfectly adorable bedrooms, I couldn’t resist the chance to photograph them in each of them, as well as in their white-on-white bathroom in the tub.  (Who doesn’t love a kid with bubbles in his hair in the tub, right?) 

Thanks to their mama for allowing me to come to your home and photograph your gorgeous boys!  I hope they’re enjoying their racing game. 

Since his parents paid quite the price at more than four hours here patiently soothing, rocking, feeding, holding, soothing, rocking, feeding holding… all in an effort to get that perfect photograph, I’m posting more images here than I usually do for a session preview (a tiny well deserved reward!).  I know it was a tough session for little E’s mommy and daddy (especially after the previous night with no sleep at all), but I think (and I hope they agree!) that it was well worth it. 

Thanks so much to both of you guys for waiting it out with such patience and stamina, and thanks for allowing me to photograph your new little man. 

And this is an appropriate finishing point… mom and dad spent so much time with their hands on little E, trying to soothe him and help him be happy without any clothes on (which he was quick to let us know he didn’t like at all *grin*).  Your parents truly love you, little man!

Senior photography is such a different world from baby photography.  I’m excited about this new venture and the many new creative possibilites it includes.  Although I *love* my baby photography clients and would never give them up, I have to admit that there’s something sort of nice about having a subject who won’t pee or poop on me and who will actually follow directions.

Baby A was, okay, a tiny bit grumpy at first.  We did have to do quite a bit of waiting on him… but oh, oh, oh, did it pay off.  Here he is… sweet little man and his extremely proud parents (and grandma!).

Despite being two, she was very sweet and even, dare I say, cooperative.  She was, however, way too smart.  Once she figured out that we actually wanted her to smile a bit, she turned that serious face on and kept it on like any good, stubborn two-year-old.  Okay, okay, so she wore the very, very serious little face for, well, quite a bit of the session (as is evidenced in the black and white photograph below – she’s beautiful even when overly serious, right?), but when she let that smile go, it was IRRESISTABLE for sure. 

Here she is, sweet little baby A in all her peachy goodness.  Thanks to her mom, dad, gia and puppy for coming to the studio this week! 

Can I say that I am *in love* with the first photograph… so sweet and innocent, and something about it that just gives you a glimpse into her little soul?  This was one of those images that made my heart jump just a little when I photographed it… knowing what I’d just captured. 

adding one more… I’m gonna guess by looking that the puppy might have eaten me if I’d bothered her person. 

This was a fun session we did as much for me as for her.  When I bought this settee, I KNEW I had to photograph this little girl on it.  And I KNEW she had to have her huge Diana Ross hair for the session, as well. 

So here she is… Miss K:  a little girl who’s looking grown up.

Exhibit A: two adorable bare tushies, complete with dimpled goodness.  Exhibit B:  they actually seem to *love* each other… right down to the sweet hand-holding.  Exhibit C:  wonderful parents willing to entertain all brands of creative ideas… resulting in amazing baby photography.
